Hello

I understand that the decision to begin therapy can come with mixed feelings and that the process of beginning the work to improve our mental health can feel intimidating.

Most people come to therapy with something that is troubling them.  This may be past experiences that are unresolved, relationships that are hard to navigate or behaviors that just keep getting in the way.  Whatever the reason, my role as a therapist is to help my clients start to feel better by looking at areas where they feel stuck.  This is achieved with trust, mutual respect and partnership between myself and my clients.

My role is temporary, but my hope is that through our work you will begin to feel capable of addressing the challenges you face so that you can keep building the life you want for yourself with integrity.

Therapy is not always sad, or happy, or difficult, or easy, it’s all of these things because that's what life is too.  My style involves humor, empathy and realism and my goal is to make therapy as safe, transparent and helpful to you as I can.

I strive to create a safe and anti-oppressive practice that respects, validates and affirms individual racial, ethnic, religious, spiritual, gender and sexual identities.

My work:

The majority of my past work has been with individuals and families that have experienced complex trauma and the various ways that it impacts mental health.  I've worked with whole families, couples, adolescents, teens, young adults and individuals at all life stages.

I work hard to understand the whole picture of those that I serve by considering their history, their communities, their family situation and their world views.  I believe that systemic oppression is a fact and that the invalidation of people's identities is a form of trauma as is COVID, community violence and many other facets of the world we live in today.

If this brief outline of my work resonates with you, I'd love to chat further and answer any questions you have about my approach, my experience or what therapy may look like for you.

Thank you for your interest and time.
